Softball Sweeps Pair From Bowie State

BOWIE, MD--The Bloomsburg University softball team took a pair of games from Bowie State on Tuesday by scores of 21-0 and 3-1.

In the opener, the Huskies had six players get two or more hits with Jess Rosin (Brooklyn, NY/James Madison) leading the way going 3-5, while Jenna Hampton (Catawissa/Southern Columbia) and Kayleen Sidisky (Bellefonte/Bellefonte) each had three RBI. Bloomsburg scored eight runs in both the third and fifth innings. Ashley Lynn (Riverside/Danville) picked up the win with three innings of work, while Shavuan Fisher (Coplay/Allentown Central Catholic) had two shutout innings.

Game two was much closer with the Huskies winning 3-1 and getting just four hits compared with 16 in the opener. Trailing 1-0, Bloomsburg tied the score in the fifth when Casey Massimini (Downingtown/Downingtown West) led off with a triple and Tara Reed (Williamsport/Williamsport) followed with an RBI single. The Huskies went in front 3-1 taking advantage of two Bowie State errors in the inning. Jen Miller (Muir/Williams Valley) singled and later scored on an error, while Tiff Corliss (Lewisburg/Lewisburg) reached on an error and came around to score.

Sheelin Fisher went the first five innings to get the win with Lynn finishing up for the save.

The Huskies, 19-2, host Holy Family on Friday at 2:30 p.m.
